About the Project

In the summer of 2013, York University conducted a search for experienced and qualified design firm to undertake the redevelopment of their aging natural turf football stadium field. Selected as the successful proponent, MBTW was charged with the task of rebranding York Stadium through the conversion of the existing playing surface to “complete” artificial turf system – a term used by the University Athletics Department to describe their objectives of safety, performance, durability, quality and value.

Embracing the University’s vision, MBTW’s project team worked extensively through the design and implementation processes to coordinate, communicate and verify that the project specific performance specifications of the selected synthetic turf field system were achieved. Post installation testing was used to certify that the final product met the University’s goal for a high quality, safe and durable multi-use sports field.
