About the Project

Sunny Mount Park, formerly known as Willmott Neighbourhood Park, is part of the former Willmott Farmstead which is one of Milton’s original farms. The site is rich with a variety of natural, cultural, and historic elements, including a 1850s farmhouse and barn.

MBTW was retained by the Town of Milton in 2015 to develop design concepts for the site and to prepare detailed design and construction drawings for the preferred option. Thematic design of the park was meant to amplify farmstead heritage, incorporating materials found on site such as wood timbers from the pre-existing barns. New park elements blend thoughtfully with the heritage farm buildings creating a unique and interesting character for the park. New features include full electrical servicing and lighting, custom picnic shelter, playground, spray, LID features, passive recreation areas, pedestrian circulation, dog off-leash area and parking.
