About the Project

Valhalla Town Square is a 6.6-acre master-planned, mixed-use residential enclave envisioned to deliver a vibrant and pedestrian-oriented urban environment. With its iconic architectural forms, multi-functional podium, and central public square, the development redefines contemporary living in Etobicoke, harmonizing density with thoughtfully designed open spaces and extensive landscape integration.

The MBTW Group was retained throughout the entire project lifecycle, from conceptual design to final execution, providing sophisticated landscape architecture services. The design integrates a diverse array of landscape elements that contribute to the aesthetic and functional aspects of the site:

·         Streetscape Design and Urban Integration: The design along Gibbs Road features a carefully crafted pedestrian realm, incorporating pedestrian clearways and strategically placed vegetation to foster connectivity and enhance walkability.

·         Ecological Buffer Plantings: A series of dense, native planting zones along the Highway 427 corridor create an ecological buffer, while a dedicated pedestrian pathway ensures safe and comfortable north-south access through the site.

·         Central Garden Public Open Space (POPS): This activated open space features sculptural landforms, berms, and undulating mounds, creating a dynamic topography. The garden incorporates ample seating zones, integrated wind mitigation strategies, and ornamental hardscaping with animated paving techniques, offering both respite and an immersive sensory experience.

·         At-Grade Leisure and Play Areas: This outdoor amenity space between buildings A and B is equipped with a thoughtfully curated selection of sculptural play elements that serve as both functional and artistic pieces. The design also incorporates shaded seating pavilions to ensure comfort and inclusivity for all residents.

·         Vehicular Circulation and Traffic Flow: The main driveway is enhanced with artistic paving, introducing a harmonious transition between vehicular movement and pedestrian zones. The paving treatment serves as a visual cue to guide both drivers and pedestrians through the space while contributing to the overall aesthetic richness of the landscape.

·         Elevated Garden Terraces and Rooftop Amenities: A series of lushly planted elevated outdoor spaces create verdant retreats above the urban landscape. These spaces feature expansive pool decks, communal seating areas, BBQ zones, dining pavilions, and trellis-covered seating nooks, all seamlessly woven into the landscape design to provide a luxurious sanctuary for residents.

Through the integration of these advanced landscape design principles, Valhalla Town Square exemplifies a sophisticated fusion of form and function, where ecological resilience, aesthetic beauty, and urban livability are harmoniously balanced.
